Romantic secret patio

several levels of retaining walls and planters

This patio is actually sunk-in and below the first level of the apartment and comes across as being somewhat dark and closed in.  It also has several retaining walls, planters and odd areas that created somewhat of a challenge.  We painted the end wall in a metallic paint to allow light to reflect off the wall making the area appear much brighter and larger, then added an iron plaque for character. The sectional sofa was custom designed in an elegant camel color marine vinyl for the seat cushions and a camel print fabric for the back.  All of this is complimented with burgundy chenille pillows custom embroidered with the owners initials for that extra special touch, then added a table for two in front of a wall fountain.   By staying with neutral colors and conservative fabrics, being careful with the furniture layout, and embracing the unusual planters and walls, we were able to take a small space look sophisticated and make it appear much larger.
